Luis Jimenez-Ridruejo nació en Salamanca (España) en 1945. Estudió arte en Beaux-Arts de Paris, diseño de interiores en IADE de Madrid, y Bellas Artes en la Facultad de Salamanca. Tuvo su propio negocio de diseño de interiores; mientras pintaba y hacía fotografía con el Grupo Libre. Participó en exposiciones nacionales e internacionales, ganando numerosos premios antes de marchar a los Estados Unidos  a finales de los ochenta.

Luis trabajó en Houston y Pittsburgh antes de reaparecer en Texas, esta vez en el área de Dallas. Después de diez años dedicado a escribir, a la fotografía, al diseño gráfico y a su negocio de importación de arte, ha vuelto a sus pinturas de la serie Uninhabited Garden. Está desarrollando una serie nueva titulada Instar. Sus trabajos se han descrito como expresionismo abstracto y surrealismo abstracto, con algunos elementos de realismo también en su pintura. Fantasía contra etiquetas.

Jimenez-Ridruejo vuelve a la palestra del arte preguntándose las mismas cuestiones que antes: hacia donde va el arte de pintar? Porqué la abstracción bloquea todavía lo que está detrás del muro? Así trata de contribuir a una respuesta que aún no existe.

Luis Jimenez-Ridruejo was born in Salamanca, Spain in 1945. He studied art at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, interior design at IADE School in Madrid, and Fine Arts at the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Salamanca. He then ran his own interior design business while active both as a painter and a photographer with the Grupo Libre de Fotografía. He participated in national and international exhibits and won multiple awards before moving to the United States in the early 1990s.

Luis worked in Houston and Pittsburgh before reappearing in Texas, this time in the Dallas area. After ten years of dedication to writing, photography, graphic design, and his art import business, he has returned to his Uninhabited Garden paintings. A new series called Instar is also in development. His work has been described as abstract expressionism and abstract surrealism, but there are elements of realism in his paintings as well. Fantasy defies labels.

Jimenez-Ridruejo reenters the palaestra of art asking himself the same questions as before: Where is the art of painting headed? Why is abstraction still blocking our view of what lies beyond the wall? He must contribute to a response that does not yet exist.
